Board Advisor, AccTek
Helping organisations navigate growth, transformation and AI-enabled change through independent judgement, governance and practical leadership.
Craig Richards is Board Advisor to AccTek Ltd and an international business leader with more than three decades of experience helping founders, boards and executive teams build stronger, more resilient organisations. He specialises in aligning strategy, governance, technology and people to deliver sustainable growth and long-term value.
Craig has worked across global enterprises, private equity-backed businesses and founder-led companies. His experience spans business transformation, acquisitions, operating model evolution and organisational performance across Europe and Asia — the full arc from early-stage structure to institutional-grade governance.
He is an independent adviser to AccTek rather than a director, employee or client-facing accountant. His role is to strengthen how the firm itself is built and run.
The areas where Craig’s input shapes AccTek’s direction and, indirectly, the advice our clients receive.
Building the decision-making structures, reporting rhythm and accountability that let a growing business scale without losing control.
Moving organisations from where they are to where they need to be — operating model, process and technology aligned to a clear strategy.
Reshaping how work actually gets done as headcount, revenue and complexity grow past what the original structure was designed for.
Helping leadership teams judge where emerging technology genuinely improves performance — and where it is a distraction.
Aligning people, incentives and capability so strategy survives contact with day-to-day operations.
As Board Advisor, Craig provides independent perspective and strategic challenge. He supports the firm’s growth while helping clients understand how emerging technologies, including AI, can strengthen business performance without losing sight of the people at the heart of every organisation.
That mandate matters because of how AccTek is built. We run AI-enhanced workflows across bookkeeping, reporting and compliance monitoring — but the judgement, the advice and the accountability stay human. An independent adviser with three decades of transformation experience is exactly the right person to keep testing whether we are getting that balance right.
In practice, Craig’s involvement means AccTek’s own governance, operating model and technology decisions are held to the standard we would expect of a client scaling towards institutional investment.
A board advisor provides independent perspective and strategic challenge to a company’s leadership without holding a formal directorship. They have no statutory duties or voting rights, which is precisely what makes the input useful — the adviser can question decisions without carrying responsibility for defending them.
No. Craig is an independent Board Advisor, not a statutory director, shareholder or employee of AccTek Ltd. He is not listed as an officer at Companies House and holds no client-facing accounting role.
A non-executive director is a formally appointed officer with legal duties under the Companies Act 2006, filed at Companies House and jointly accountable for board decisions. A board advisor sits outside that structure, offering guidance without fiduciary responsibility — a lighter, more flexible arrangement common in earlier-stage and founder-led businesses.
No. Every AccTek client works with a named, qualified accountant. Craig’s role is advisory to the firm itself — his influence reaches clients through how AccTek is structured, governed and run, not through direct engagement.
For the same reason we tell founders to build governance early. A firm advising businesses on structure, growth and technology adoption should be subject to the same external scrutiny it recommends. Independent challenge is a discipline, not decoration.
AccTek is a member firm of the Institute of Certified Practising Accountants (ICPA). Our accountants have a wide range of qualifications and accreditations from trusted professional bodies such as the AAT, ICPA, and ACCA.
